What is radiation oncology?

Onco is a term denoting "tumor". Oncology is the science of dealing with and treating tumors, or cancer. Depending on a patient's clinical condition, providing radiation treatment can enable the patient to live a long and fulfilling life. Over half the patients diagnosed with cancer will receive radiation therapy, and many will also be treated with surgery, chemotherapy, or a combination of treatments. Your radiation oncologist in conjunction with your primary care physician or other specialists will review your case and determine the best course of treatment for your cancer.

At ROA, we are committed to providing state-of-the-art cancer treatment options in order to ensure that each patient receives a radiation therapy plan that is highly targeted and customized, leading to the best possible outcomes.
