Cyberknife

We are excited about the benefits that Cyberknife Radiosurgery offers many of our patients. Over the past two decades, clinical use of linear based stereotactic radiosurgery (X-Knife system) or the Cobalt-60 unit (Gamma Knife) gained widespread acceptance and success for non-invasive radiation surgery treatments for brain metastasis, malignant brain tumors, benign brain tumors and certain functional disorders. Now, in Fort Wayne, we move forward with the CyberKnife stereotactic robotic radiosurgery system. This system uniquely expands the concept and clinical practice of stereotactic radiosurgery; not only for the brain, but to the spine and other sites throughout the entire body. CyberKnife is frameless for patients (no surgical pins) and can accurately fuse various types of imaging (MRI, CT, PET, etc.) for extra-cranial tumor localization. The CyberKnife Center of Excellence at Parkview’s Regional Cancer Center provides local and regional patients with access to one of a limited number of treatment sites active throughout North America offering full body image-guided stereotactic robotic radiosurgery. Patients receive high quality and dedicated care supported by a multi-disciplinary team consisting of radiation oncologists and surgical specialists with many years of experience using prior generation stereotactic radiosurgery systems.
